Rumors: Nightwing & Wonder Woman Joining Batman vs. Superman?

For those who don't know, Warner Bros. and Yahoo! Movies are having a special online fan event to hype the release of Man of Steel on Blu-Ray and DVD next Tuesday. Set to begin Saturday, the event will feature Zack Snyder, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams discussing what the future holds for the Last Son of Krypton, and answer fans questions live on the air. However, the event's host, writer/director Kevin Smith, recently talked about the even on his Hollywood Babble-On podcast (via ComingSoon), and he revealed there might Batman vs. Superman treats in store. More on that and other rumors below!

As for the revelations at this event, this is how Smith described it:
They're doing a special on Yahoo that I'm hosting, Zack Snyder is the featured guest, but it's all about Man of Steel. So it's me, Zack Snyder, Amy Adams, Henry Cavill is on video from London or he may even be on set with us, and then there's some Michael Shannon stuff. So it's an hour long, it's free, it's on the internet, but it's just kind of to be like 'Hey, 'Man of Steel' is coming out!' But there's two things, there might be announcements during this show and the one thing I do know is there's artwork going to be on this show that may or may not have something to do with a movie that's coming up.
Recently, a panel discussion at Stan Lee's ComiKaze convention featured Thor: The Dark World star Jamie Alexander, and the actress mentioned discussions with both Marvel and Warner Bros. (which basically means DC Comics properties) about superhero movies. And because people can't resist asking anyone who was ever involved with a superhero movie what they think of Ben Affleck playing Batman, she thought he was suitable for the role and that fans shouldn't be quick to judge without seeing a performance. She also added that she "kind of knows the story line for that movie.” Um, what?

Obviously, there are plenty of Hollywood insiders who know some story details about Batman vs. Superman, but how does someone like Jamie Alexander know things about the film? Well, as of now, there's only speculation, but the popular train of thought is that Warner Bros. might be keen on the actress to play Wonder Woman in the DC Universe. Anyone who has seen her as Lady Sif in Thor and Thor: The Dark World staring will have a hard time denying that she doesn't have all the key elements to fit the role perfectly. When asked about the comparison between her character and Wonder Woman, she told Forbes:
I’m a huge fan of Wonder Woman. I really think if this is the closest that we’re ever going to get to Wonder Woman, then I’m proud to play Sif. I hope that other comic book entities can learn a lesson from Marvel in how to execute a female character the way it should be done. I really would like to one day see a Wonder Woman film or Wonder Woman character, but until it’s done with class, I’d rather it not be done.
Latino Review has been hyping up this scoop for a couple days, and today they finally unleashed news that Dick Grayson will be featured in Batman vs. Superman. However, the rumor is also fueled by speculation because there's a casting call out for a "young John Hawkes type," which they believe is the Dick Grayson role. Adding a bit more credibility to the rumor, the site adds that a treatment of the script detailed that Bruce Wayne, as a grizzled, tired Batman, hasn't spoken to Dick in years. It would be interesting to step into a Gotham City where Batman and Robin have already worked together and had a falling out. The question is whether Grayson will show up as Nightwing, stepping out from under the shadow of Batman.

Now these are all just rumors that have been floating around, but since there were so many with minor but juicy threads and details, we figured it couldn't hurt to let everyone know what's going on, maybe fuel some conversation on the forthcoming 2015 sequel. Anyway, make sure you come back this weekend, because we'll be sure to post any artwork or significant updates from Batman vs. Superman that is unveiled at the Man of Steel fan event as soon as it's available online.
