Bourne Legacy Sequel Gets a Screenwriter, Will Focus on Jeremy Renner’s Character

Back in February, Universal indicated they were planning to move forward with a sequel to The Bourne Legacy following Jeremy Renner as the Operation Outcome agent Aaron Cross who was targeted for termination. With the help of one of the program's doctors (Rachel Weisz), Cross was able overcome his reliance on medication that kept his biological enhancements of his body and mind in check. Now his story will definitely continue as Deadline reports the studio has hired Anthony Peckham (Sherlock Holmes, Invictus) to script the follow-up that takes place in the universe of The Bourne Identity franchise. Read on!

Producer Frank Marshall has expressed hopes that Renner could get teamed up with Matt Damon and his Jason Bourne character somehow. However, the actor of the original trilogy was skeptical about making it work saying, "I love Jeremy and I'm a huge fan of him and I know him personally and love him outside of work, too. But I just don't know what that story would be. I could never see Bourne teaming up with anyone." Of course, Damon is an accomplished screenwriter, so it's not as if he's without creative thoughts, but maybe someone can crack the story. It would make for quite a match-up. Thoughts?
