Rockstar Games has implemented title update 1.05 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Grand Theft Auto V. This small patch seeks to clean up some of the remaining issues with GTA Online character progression.

At the launch of GTA Online, players found that their characters were being deleted or, failing that, they were losing their vehicles and upgrades. Many of those problems were cleaned up with a patch on October 10th. Here's what was fixed today:
  • Built in measures to prevent users from losing their progress when there is a cloud outage
  • Built in a number of measures to protect players’ cash balances even if there are network problems
  • Fixed an issue where on rare occasions during network problems the player could lose their Online vehicle or mods after exiting GTA Online
GTA Online had a rough first month. The problems extended beyond progression issues. For the first few days, many gamers couldn't play it period. They'd get hung up on the first tutorial mission, assuming they even got that far. Even worse, the game was preventing some players from going back to the single-player campaign.

Rockstar has been releasing updates throughout October in order to make the multiplayer experience more stable. They were hoping to restore lost character progress as well but ultimately announced that this isn't possible.

To reward gamers for putting up with the issues, Rockstar is giving away $500,000 of in-game cash for GTA Online. They plan to release the cash in two installments of $250,000. Now that they've apparently cleaned up the remaining problems with players losing in-game money, the road is clear for this giveaway. The first half will go out sometime this week.

"We anticipate the GTA$ Stimulus to be distributed in the next couple of days following this Title Update," Rockstar said today. "The Stimulus will go out over the course of a full day once it's initiated so don't be alarmed if people on your friends list receive it before or later than you do. Enjoy and we certainly appreciate your patience and understanding as we sort out these remaining issues."

Rockstar's other plans for November include a free DLC pack called Beach Bum. This add-on will introduce new vehicles, weapons, and customization options for GTA Online. Players can also look forward to a new collection of missions.
